Her Twin Brother Came Home. She Never Got The Chance. Help This Premature Baby Leave The NICU Alive.

Know more before you donate

Kajal gave birth to premature twins in her seventh month of pregnancy. What should have been one of the happiest moments of their lives quickly turned into a nightmare.

Both babies were born dangerously underweight and were immediately rushed to the NICU. Every hour became a fight for survival.

  • Location

    Kolhapur, Maharashtra

  • Medical Condition

Baby Girl of Kajal Sunil Pawar was born extremely premature at just 28 weeks of gestation and weighed only 1 kg at birth. Since birth, she has remained admitted in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Sai Sparsh Children's Hospital, Kolhapur.

She has been diagnosed with multiple life-threatening complications associated with extreme prematurity, including:

    • Extremely Preterm Birth (28 Weeks)
    • Extremely Low Birth Weight (ELBW)
    • Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS)
    • Neonatal Sepsis
    • Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC)
    • Septic Shock

Due to the severity of her condition, she underwent surgery for NEC and has required prolonged intensive care support. Even after four months of hospitalization, she continues to require specialized neonatal care, oxygen support, medications, nutritional management, and constant monitoring by NICU specialists.

According to the treating doctors, prolonged NICU care is essential for her survival and recovery. The estimated medical expenses for treatment and medicines have placed an overwhelming burden on the family, which is already struggling with severe financial hardship.

The family has exhausted their savings, sold personal assets, and accumulated substantial debt while trying to save their daughter.

Your support can help ensure that this fragile little fighter continues receiving the treatment she urgently needs and gets a chance to return home safely.

    Dear Donors,

We are overjoyed to share some wonderful news  Baby of Kajal has been discharged from the NICU and is finally home with her family.

Born a premature twin, weighing just 1 kg, this little girl spent nearly five months fighting for every gram while her twin brother waited for her at home. Today, that wait is finally over — she is home, reunited with her brother, and in her mother's arms at last.

None of this would have been possible without you. Your generosity gave this baby the NICU care and close monitoring that carried her through months of fighting — and gave her father, who slept on hospital benches night after night, the chance to finally bring his daughter home to the family he never stopped showing up for.

The family continues to need some support for follow-up care and medication as she settles in, but the hardest part of this journey is now behind them.

From all of us at Pledge Foundation, and from Kajal and her family — thank you. You didn't just fund a treatment. You gave two parents both of their children, home and together at last.

There are other little ones still fighting for their lives. If you wish to continue making a difference, please visit our active cases page and extend your support to any baby you feel called to help.

  • Update 15 Jul 2026

    Dear Donors,
A quick and hopeful update on baby of Kajal.
She is now 128 days old and weighs 1.620 kg — steady, gradual progress that reflects just how much of a fighter she is. Every small gain matters, and none of it would be possible without your continued support.
She remains under close care at Sai Sparsh Children's Hospital, Kolhapur, while her parents stay by her side through it all. Her father continues to keep vigil at the hospital, and her mother manages things at home with their infant son — holding the family together in the toughest of circumstances.
The road ahead is still long, and the expenses of her treatment continue to weigh heavily on this family.
Thank you for standing with them so far. With the family going through such a difficult situation, we sincerely urge everyone to continue extending their support in whatever way possible.
    Regards,
    Medical Social Worker,
